In order to compliment the Italian Surname Database, Carole and I have decided to create the Italian Surname Blog.

The blog is linked on facebook as well and we found it has been extremely popular.

Please feel free to submit and stories that you would like to share on the blog using the Contact and stating a subject in the comment section. Then proceed to write your story.

As always we would appreciate any feedback you can provide on this.

Thanks and have a great weekend!

Nuccia,
I have a few comments regarding the surname blog. For starters the blog layout seems to clip the words so that what is written is truncated and not entirely visible. Also the contact form does not seem to follow the example you provide.

Quote::
Your submission should look like this:

Angilletta
Ardore
Reggio Calabria
Calabria
Nuccia
youremail @ gmail.com

Does not fit the form:
Quote::
First Name
Last Name
Email
City
State
Preferred Method of Contact
Questions or Comments

Is the "Question/Comments" field to be used to add the relevant surname information in the manner you've specified above? I'm probably missing something very obvious which would not be unusual in my case Embarassed

Hi Tom..

No, the contact form on the blog itself is not laid out as well as I would like. The template is just not quite right so I ask that you use the Contact form here instead:

www.calabriaexchange.c...dback.html

I am updating it so it does provide all the fields making it easier to submit a name but for now I ask that you simply provide the information manually as I presented in the Comment field.

Thanks for the feedback - I will try to work on it this weekend.

Well I have been working on both the blog and the database on and off for the last few weeks trying to catch up on things since Carole's passing. Last week I entered about 200 plus names to the site (I was really behind). I wanted to lock it for a while but I found the page views have increased dramatically this year and every year since 2007. I believe last month alone almost 20,000 views! I am also trying to change the look of the Calabria Exchange and Gente so I have been working on a new template for each.

I hope to get it up by Christmas week if all goes well but I am only taking a few days off for the holidays so not sure it will all get done. Meanwhile I would welcome any suggestions you all have on how we can improve the sites.
