Hi I haven't been on this site in quite a while. When I was on here before I was helped greatly & hoping to be so again. I am looking for my great grand parents and any family that may have records. I have found a lot on my grand parents, but sadly nothing before them. My Grandparents Vincenzo & Maria Rosa Iemma, were born in Cittanova Reggio Calabria in 1880 & 1881 respectively. My family search starts with them, but I am unable to go back any farther. I have amassed a large amount of information of my family since they immigrated to America. A few years ago I even wrote to the commune (in Italian) but never received a response. Any help anyone might provide about the ancestry of my grandparents will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

These records can be found on line from 1809-1865. After 1866 you will need to contact the town. If you need help with getting records from Cittanova please contact me privately.

Hi John and Ann - I did attempt to contact Cittanova directly in 2010 and Carole attempted to follow up just prior to her death but we weren't able to get an answer from them. I do have all the indici from 1809-1865 but until we confirm the births of Vincenzo & Maria Rosa they aren't really useful. If I recall correctly both fathers may have been called Francesco. Any help you can provide would be appreciated as I know John has been anxious to solve this mystery for quite a while. Please feel free to message me if you need any details of what I found so far -

Hello,

I also joined this site to see if I could find more about Vencenzo Iemma. Vincenzo Iemma and Maria Teresa Bottiglieri were my wife's 2nd great grandparents. Our family has been researching to see if we can find out where Vincenzo died and if he is buried in Reggio di Calabria, Calabria, Italy. I do not have his death date, and we originally had his birth date as in 1881. We know he returned to Italy from the US, but his family did not hear from him after that point.

@choprjohn, were you able to find any further information on Vincenzo Iemma?

Thank you,

Michael M.

I have all that I have found on Ancestry.com, its the IEMMA YEMMA AMIE FAMILY TREE. you are more than welcome to look at it. From your info, they may or may not be one & the same or even related, as I have never heard of Maria Teresa Bottiglieri before. My Grandfather had a brother Salvatore Iemma who settled in Massachuttes. That family is also listed on Ancestry. com, but not by me

My wife's portion of the Iemma family settled down in South Bend, Indiana. I am currently working with her aunt who has done quiet a bit of research on this also. My ancestry.com public tree is under Michael McDaniel Family Tree under username mcdaniem07. I see many of my hints to public trees do try to connect to your tree due to similar names from similar areas.

If I run into something that may help, I will definitely let you know.
