Hi guys. I am trying to find out as much as possible regarding my grandfather Lorenzo Romanos military history in the Italian Army. I know that he came over to America when he was advised that he would have to re-enlist into the 8th infantry. So I guess you could say he is a draft dodger.

Where could I go for that information??

Hi,
You have to request his "Foglio Matricolare" addressing your request to the State Archive related to the area Province he was from. I guess you know where he was from. You also need his birth year and parents name. Tell me the town and I'll give you the State Archive address for its Province. Yes, he was a draft dodger and this will probably be written on his military records.

I had a look at your profile and saw that your anchestor was probably from Piazza Armerina (Enna province). If you are looking for records after 1927 then you can write to:

as-en@beniculturali.it

or

fax: 0039 093537257

or

ARCHIVIO DI STATO DI ENNA
Via Scifitello, 20
94100 ENNA
Italy

On their site they state that you can request a search by e-mal or by fax. They will answer within 30 days max. In the answer you will find the name of the responsible in charge for your search.

Try and see if it works that way.

Ada
