Thanks Nuccia, good job. wish I could read it! I am some what dissapointed as I already have Giuseppe Terranova's birth certificate.
I did ask for the certificato di martrimonio of Sebastiano and Cecilia D'Amato in my September letter and the certificato di stato famiglia in my April letter. Sant' Arsenio sent back my original letters with a post-script on each. I assume their notes state that there is no record of the marriage and they cannot supply the family info. Would you be so kind a s to translate these too. Thank you

The top one reads: "According to the research done in our civil state register, we have found only the birth record related to Giuseppe Terranova, attached is the Estratto di Nascita".

Te second one reads:"We cannot release the Stato di Famiglia of Giuseppe Terranova since we have not found the records."

Do you know where Cecilia D'Amato was born? Maybe she came from a nearby comune and they married there. It was customary to marry in the bride's town (this did not always happen) and that may explain the lack of a marriage record.

Thank you sooo much Livio, deeply appreciate your assistance.
But now I am back to square one. Sad This is odd as my mother remembers her father speaking about the "family farm" in Sant' Arsenio and that he had brothers remaining in Italy. My cousin Barbara is also sure that her Great Grandfather Antonio, brother to Giuseppe, was also born in Sant' Arsenio.
Kathy, we have absolutely NO information on Cecelia D'Amato. Sebastiano Terranova came over to bring his daughter Maria, who was to marry Nicola Ippolito, but he seems to have returned to Italy. I have not found any documents listing Cecelia as yet. Going to write to San Pietro al Tenegro, the town next to Sant' Arsenio.
