All-
OF topic, but perhaps not!

Got a phone call from Rende, Cs re: Some Canadians made a beautiful film of Calabria - art, buildings, traditions, etc.
It was shown last night in It. I believe by some Shaw TV , and a new puntata questa sera!.
I heard it was very beautiful - several places in Calabria. I have Shaw, but not this It. service. Anybody in "Gente...has this service?

Who knows- they may even show the "castle".

Thanks Elizabeth - I knew you would give us a good opinion... kiss

Oh! I never heard of Shaw but I would have loved to have seen the show. Sad Perhaps segments made their way to You Tube. Do you know the name of the show? kiss
More of my cousins pictures are on my website The Cosenza Exchange (for records of Cosenza Province). Some of them are in a gallery.
www.cosenzaexchange.co...lery1.html
Most of the pictures came from areas around Rende but I am not sure where exactly. Embarassed I have some great photos of Rende and Paola too from him. They are scattered throughout the site.

Cathy, Cathy!

I knew I had seen more than once the photo of the Ruderi! OF COURSE. it is in your Cosenza Exchange!!!, but no exact location. I have sent the picture to my cousin in Rende, she may know where it is.

More I look at that "castle" more it bothers me. That little bamboo stick in front of it in one frame, and SIMY carved in the tower in another frame...well. I can see how a photo could show that in the forefront and the view in the distance. It depends on the lenses used, and focus distance...

Any experts? I GOT to find OUT, or ...

Cathy,

RUDERI in Italian, and also generally used to designate RUINS of any castle, tower, palace, archeological sites, etc. Of anything with historical importance.

Nuccia,
I understand they are showing another puntata- chapter tonight. Later on will be shown in Canada. I will get the name of the co. etc. and will let you know.
I would need a special service from Shaw to see it. Calabrese friends of mine will see it , guess what - they do not have tape recording!!!

Cathy,
I sent the foto of the Ruderi to my cousin, she did not recognized it. Some of those mountain landscapes must be of the Pollino. One seems to me a view from Rende's Centro Storico up in the direction of the Sila. I do not have my views in this home. All those lovely paesine on top of the mountains, just perched there. One I like so much is Castroreggio. From the freeway it looks like a nest up there. But so many... Nocara, Canna, Oriolo(this one has a large castle)... etc.
They are great photos!

AHA!!! I think I have sort of figured this out!!! But I still don't know what comune. Sad But I do have a photo of the town with the ruins in the foreground. Looks very small...certainly not a castle but ruins of some sort. Here is a picture of the town. www.montaltouffugo.org...ria015.jpg
www.montaltouffugo.org...ria008.jpg
The town is somewhere in between Rende and Paola. (they were on their way from Rende to Paola on the coast)
Does anyone recognise the town? Sophia, maybe your cousin will?
Thanks so much.

Rather strange that the "men" on the towers and "M's" (Mickey and/or Minnie) on the other parts are intact, while the rest ia a ruin. Unless they were restored, doubtful if this is very old. Also PMed Simona about the graffito "SIMY" but no answer yet. Guess this is a common nickname for Simona?
