I'm sorry Luca, Joseph Sapienza is on the top of the page #71. There is a piece of paper just above his name. Thank you. ~ Rita

The Year Of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six
The 10th day of November.
I. Giuseppe Teneralli, priest and judge chaplain of this parish Church and matrix under the title of Santa Maria of the Consolazione of this Comune of
Mascalucia did baptise an infant born to Lucia Duscia(!) and begot by Francesco Sapienza husband and wife of the aforesaid Comune and to whom the name of Maria was given. The godmother was Rosaria Leino of the same Comune

Luca,
I must admit the word 'matricis' caused me some problems - I realise that it could infer the body and root of from which something develops OR the old use for the word womb - 16c: Latin, meaning 'womb'. But how should it be used in this context?
'C'

X Carole
Chiesa Matrice si può intendere come Chiesa madre (nel senso di Chiesa principale) Wink

X Tiger
I'll try to translate the act of Joseph Sapienza too.

I am a bit confused. Do you believe this is my Great,Great Grandfather Joseph Sapienza or do you think I have the wrong person? In my family... Joseph Sapienza is supposeably the child of Michelangelo and Carmela Consoli. This is the closest I have found on the film from Mascalucia and I don't know what to do from here. Thanks. ~ Rita

A bit of time has passed so i don't remember the whole topic, but i remember well that the name was Michelangelo and not Angelo. So, if you are sure that the mother's name is Carmela and not Caterina, i'll say that this Giuseppe is a cousin of "your" Giuseppe.

I found this document and was wondering if someone will translate it for me. I don't know if this is a child Michaelangelo related to my family. I hope it is large enough to see. Thank you. ~ Rita

I've just noticed on this document that there is a Salvatore Sapienza and a Gratia Sapienza on this page. I don't know if they could be related to me and would appreciate if it can be translated. Thank you.

Father Alfio Sapienza, mother Giovanna Leina(?), date October 29th 1849. The name of the Priest is Salvatore Rapisarda. The name of the child, in modern italian, is Grazia.
