Jane,

I don't know if you have this. It is Nicola and Filomena's December 1907 ship manifest. It gives their last residence and birthplace as Cervinara. They are travelling with their 1 year old daughter Giovanna also born in Cervinara. Nicola states he was previously in the US. Leaves Aunt Nicoletta Romano in Cervinara. Destination Rutland VT to join father Gioacchino. My guess is that Nicola returned to Italy and married Filomena between 1898 and 1906. Filomena's age of 26 would make her birthyear about 1881.

If Nicola and Filomena were married in Italy, the marriage most likely took place in Cervinara so a copy of their marriage act would contain both their places of birth as well as their parents' names. I would suggest you write a letter to the civil records office in Cervinara requesting copies of the original birth acts of Nicola and Filomena and her and Nicola's marriage record. I can help you with writing the letter.

Biff,

Where did you see that Nicola said he was previously in US? I guess the bracketed area lists the word "aunt"? Am I not seeing the same or more information?

Also, do you have the address for requesting the documents from Cervinara?
Think I saw it a while ago, but not sure where.

Jane

Jane,

On the link I posted there are two pages. To see the second page, click on the forward arrow on the bottom. Under the section "previously in the US" he has answered yes.

Address to write for civil records.

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Comune di Cervinara
Piazza Trescine, 1
83012 Cervinara AV
ITALY

Luigia Casale Romano's death record. Note father Joseph--Giuseppe Casale.

Another sibling of Filomena Moscatiello Romano's, brother Raffaele. This is his death record which shows father as Geremia Moscatiello and mother as Maria Taddeo.
