Elizabeth,

The Chicago streets where my grandparents, Vincenzo and Alice Rescigno lived when their children were born:

Anthony - 810 Hinche Street 1913
Angeline - 665 Reese Street 1915
H. Joseph - 1002 Polk Street 1915

All births were attended by the same midwife, Marie Virzi married to Vincenzo Gaita. She was the daughter of Alfonzio Virzi father-in-law to Vincenzo's Rescigno's sister Angela Marie married to Giuseppe Virzi.

Didn't know any of this until I received copies of my dad, uncle and aunt's birth certificates. Talk about a small world.

Vincenzo's sister lived on infamous "Taylor Street" which I knew so well growing up. His other sister Giuseppa married to Michael Dina live on California. Again, very familiar.

Any help in locating these would be great. kiss

Here is an 1899 map of chicago. I have zoomed in to 1002 Polk. Funny thing..........my grandfather lived at 99 miller which is right at the corner of Polk and Miller. 1002 Polk is just past miller, now in Chicago Polk actually dead end right there at the next street to the right (east) of miller. That street is morgan.

www.lib.uchicago.edu/e...97-R3.html

I haven't been able to come up with a street named Hinche or Reese yet. I'll keep looking.............Biff if you see this let me know where those streets were or what they've been changed to since 1900.

Very Happy

Hinsche Street actually became Ogden Ave. Hinsche Street ran 1500N 600 to 699W. Reese St. actually became Evergreen Ave. 600 to 1099W. So it looks like two of your families streets have been renamed. A little history on Hinsche and Ogden ave. www.forgottenchicago.com/ogden1.php (interesting reading) .

Map and short story for Reese St. (Evergreen) www.forgottenchicago.com/31272.php you may also include Hinsche in this, as Ogden had an affect on them throughout the early to mid 1900's. There's also some great photo's of these actual areas.

Hope this helps.

This is all great. While living up north I was on Ogden all the time. There is a great restaurant off Ogden we went to.

I will say it really is a small world with your grandfather living near mine in Chicago.

Thank you for all your hard work. The information you provided I will save for my book collection of the family.
