Tony - you started looking at LDS films from San Fili? Thats great! Very Happy

Maybe your grandmother was not born in San Fili? People from Cosenza moved around a lot. I thought Cheurbina was little cherub too.

Cherub = Cherubino (male, although angels have no sex...)

Cherubina is a hamlet of Sona, a comune in the province of Verono, Region Veneto, North East of Italy

Cherubina is also a female first name

Well I did find my granmother it appears that she was born in 1881, thats why I told Doug I would ckeck Ciro Guido for him.
It appears that my grandmother was born out of wedlock, but my great grandmother did right and got married before the next child at least the birth Act indicates that she was married in 1884 when her second child Serafino Onofrio was born.
My great grandmothers full name was Cherubina di pasquale Esposito, my Mom she is 98 says that her grandmothers first name was Caterina.
As to my grandfather Antonio Passarelli what I found in 1872 was a Antonio Maria Passarelli but it all in script and difficult to read. I am going back to seen if I can scan some decent copies

tteti-

Thanks for the kind offer - I was able to locate my grandfather's birth certificate, sd I'm good to go on Ciro. However, my grandmother is a different story! Also born in San Fili, in 1891, i'm told that I now need her birth cerificate. When i first checked on dual citizenship, the Miami consulate indicated that the grandmother's b cert wasn't required; as of two months ago, it now is!

If you could look for her with LDS, I'd greatly appreciate it! Razz I've got documents that show her name two ways: Coweetta Maria Calomeni, or Maria Calomeni.

By the way - don't you agree that Cherubina would be a good nickname for Cathy?

Tony - if you are having a hard time reading the script, scan the documents and post them here or email them to me and I can upload them to my server and post them for you. Just click on my profile to see my email address.
lukebean: You are too sweet! Thank you.

Since all the surnames on this thread are names I recognize from my grandfather's town which is the next town over from San Fili, if anyone needs me to check my microfilms I can do so next week. Just let me know. My center also has other towns in Cosenza Province.

I am a Chicagoan - it is safest here to avoid taking sides when it comes to baseball. Cubs verses Sox is very serious stuff here. I like both teams and have been to both ball parks to see both teams play. When push comes to shove though I am a bigger Cub fan. (hides) peep If I said otherwise my Uncles would come down from heaven and
