Ann Tantangelo has uncovered a new lead in my quest to determine the origins of my Bianco family. Thanks to her diligent work I now have this additional information:

Luigi Bianco (son of Diego) born about 1840/1845 (I do not know where)
died between 1872 (his last child's birth) & February 1894 Reggio (The City) Calabria (based on the marriage record of his son Paolo).

married around 1865

Grazia Siniscalchi (dau of Nicolo) born about 1840/1845 (Scilla, Calabria)
died before 1894 Reggio (The City) Calabria

I now need to take this one step further and find their death records in Reggio. I am hoping to obtain the place of birth and mother's name for at least Luigi Bianco, so I can trace his family wherever they came from.

does anyone have any of these films on loan with the FHC?

Reggio di Calabria (Reggio di Calabria). Ufficio dello stato civile

Indice decennale dei morti 1866-1875; Morti 1866-1868 FHL INTL Film
1798775 Item 3

Morti 1868-1878; Indice decennale dei morti 1876-1885 FHL INTL Film
1798811

Indice decennale dei morti 1876-1885; Morti 1878-1886 FHL INTL Film
1798812

Morti 1887-1895 FHL INTL Film
1798813

This is so exiting! Especially since it is my paternal line!

Jim

That's great news James! Do you happen to have those films? I'm off to the old Gente to see if my FHC has any of those. I put a list on the old Gente. Although I don't think I had any Reggio films. I recall Northern Italy and lots of Cosenza Province. Maybe someone has them at their FHC?

Cathy, no I don't. I know Nuccia has in the past used Reggio films, I believe her Angiletta ancestors were there for at least a while. This is the first new lead in years on my Bianco side. They were very elusive and moved all around Calabria and Sicily. I just never knew where they lived last and died. Now, thanks to their son's marriage in another town, I know where they died (Reggio) roughly when, and can get another generation (or more) back.

James I think I told you the ones I have and there is a poster I believe on IG that also has on Temp loan other Reggio Films but I haven't heard back from him. I would also post this question on IG and see what comes up. I'll also look up the person(s) I spoke to and see if I can get an email to them.
