Hi,
I'm struggling to find information on my husband's side of the family and can only get as far as his grandparents who came out to Australia in the 1940's - 1950's. They were both born in Molfetta, Italy and I am assuming married there also as they came out to Australia with some of the children.

His name is Saverio Farinola b: 03-OCT-1908 and she is Teresa Farinola (nee Porcelli) b: 28-SEP-1917.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. My biggest hurdle is I cannot speak or read in Italian which makes it difficult online.

Thanks,
Smile

Hello, Very Happy
Here is Saverio's birth act.

familysearch.org/pal:/...1041891890

The notation on the left says he married Teresa Aug 18, 1936 in Molfetta.

Below that, you will need some help with the translation. You can see it says Adelaide, so I believe a request was made from Australia, for his birth act in Molfetta in 1957.
Maybe something to do with citizenship. I am not sure of that.

Can't make out his fathers's name and his mother looks like Angela Vecchia.
There are many records online as you know.

familysearch.org/searc...%3D2043450

I am not good with the Italian language either, but have learned enough to find records online if they are available.

Hope this helps,
Paul

Saverio's father was Lazzaro Farinola. The second notations states that he lost his Italian citizenship when he acquired the the Australian one. This was stated by The Italian Consulate in Adelaide on 18 Jan 1957

Thank you both so much. We just worked out it was Lazzaro as that was Saverio's first born's name as well. Then we saw this posting. You have both been extremely helpful. Again, thank you!

I don't know if you're aware of these records. Here is the one for your relative, including a picture.

Oops -- doesn't look like the link is working. I think if you put it up to .au, go in as a "guest" put in your relatives name, click the page icon on the right side. Hope it works.

Thank you Mary. I found the record going through the website. I did look a few years ago and there was nothing and then I actually forgot about that site. Your help is greatly appreciated.
