How/where do I order birth records from Italy? Some are from Cervinara and some seem to be from Alia (Palermo?)

I don't believe Giaocchino was from Alia in Palermo.

To order records from Cervinara, write to:

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Comune di Cervinara
Piazza Trescine
83012 Cervinara (BN)
ITALIA

You'll need to send your request(s) in Italian. Following should help you draft your request. You don't need to send any money for birth or marriage records but include a self-addressed unstamped return envelope.

www.circolocalabrese.o...ecords.asp

Before writing for records if you go that route, it would be helpful if you could supply or find the following information.

You have Nicola's birthdate. Do you know if Filomena Moscatiello was born in Italy and if so, what year? Also, do you have the years of birth for Nicola and Filomena's parents?

It's important that you provide as much detailed information as possible when writing for Italian records since this greatly increases your chances for a response from the records office.

Biff
