Going from an ancestry.com hint on location, I'm looking for information on Antonio Caserta born 1869 to possibly Vincenzo Caserta and Rosa Esposito.
I'm almost positive about Reggio Calabria location but as far as town, I'm not positive.
He immigrated to Philadelphia and married a Lucia Intrieri. Any help would be wonderful!

I believe he was born in the province of Cosenza

SIAS Code IT-ASCS-F680258
Ufficio Leva della Provincia di Cosenza, Enlistment year 1869.Volume number 96,
document number - page 207 section -
Antonio Caserta, enlisted on --/--/----
born on 09/06/1869 to PEDIVIGLIANO
son/daughter of Vincenzo Caserta and of Rosa Ferraro

Volume Leva 1869 number 96-UNO document page 207

Images have been impossible to view for the last few weeks though so you would need to order the Document from the Cosenza Archives.

Thank you for the resource! Are the images generally available on that website?

I feel a little hesitant about details being that I'm working backwards from two generations.
Working from what I do know I'm finding it so difficult to take what I find on ancestry and researching the "possibles."
Do I really know that Antonios parents are Vincenzo and Rosa? No! I wish I had more definitive evidence.
Also, from what it seems there may have been a last name change when the Casertas moved from New York to Philadelphia which throws me for a loop!
I guess that what genealogy is all about....

I appreciate your help!

Hey Jamie - we all feel like that when we first start. Some of my ancestor's were from PEDIVIGLIANO and yes, the images were available on that site up until a few weeks ago. Not sure what's happening with them now. As for what you know - most often there is a little truth in what we know, a lot less truth in what is online and then the best truth is in the actual records. Working backwards using what you do know and facts is the only way to do this. Right now I see the town is correct, the year of birth seems correct, the names of the parents seem correct so it's an avenue you will need to explore.

We're here to help so don't stress.

Thanks Nuccia!

Looking further into these hints on ancestry----Cardamone has popped up also, which I read is a name in your tree as well!
A Serafina Cardamone married an Antonio Caserta (father or Vincenzo Caserta and Rosa Ferraro).
Again, just fishing around to see what I can find!

Jamie,
I am also researching my Cardamone family members from Serrastretta, Catanzaro, Calabria. A good friend of mine at work is a Caserta. His grandparents immigrated from Italy to Puerto Rico then his parents moved to NY. He is very interested in his family roots and I wonder if there is any connection.

Wow--that's interesting. Any idea where the family came from in Italy and where they settled in New York?
From what I heard, the Caserta family settled in Catskill, NY and then moved to Philadelphia and changed their name.
