Hi Steve and welcome to the forum. Maybe you can tell us a little more about Innocenzo and Maria. Did either one ever travel to USA, if so do you know about what year they traveled? Children of the couple - names, birth years etc. If any of the family came to the US where did they settle? The more details you can give the easier it will be for people on the forum to help you.

Again, welcome to Gente!!!
Elizabeth

Billie is right - the more inormation you can give us then the easier it will be to help you. Believe me, even the tiniest bit will help with your research.

Have you tried the Paginebianche?

Just insert the surname and town and see what happens. I get two hits for yours.

how much info would ya like?

Innocenzo Born abt 1876, Maria Bertoli born abt 1879.. had 2 children in Grassano, Frank born In 1902 and Annunziata born about 1904.. Innocenzo came to the USA in 1905 Maria came in 1906.. they came into New York from Ellis Island. then had 4 more children here in the United states, Carmelo,Guiseppe,Albert,Americo. I am sending away for the State of the family from Grassano to hopefully get names of Innocenzo's parents. I can only Hope.. I checked the italian phone book for DiLenge in grassano, and it said there was 2 but i dont know if i am related.

Welcome Steve!!

Since there are only two DiLenge's in Grassano, why not write them a letter introducing yourself and detailing your family? If you can include current and past photos, a rough family tree, that should help. The letter should be in Italian and I'd include a self-addressed return envelope. Here's a link to a potential relative letter which will help you compose an initial draft. You can then post your draft in the Translation section her for help polishing/correcting it.

Hi Steve

The LDS has microfilms for Grassano Civil records 1810 through 1929. Here is the link..........
www.familysearch.org/e...o+civile++

Find Family History Centers near you and go in to order the films you would like to view. Cost is approximately $5.50 USD per film and takes about 4 weeks to arrive
www.familysearch.org/e...et_fhc.asp

You should be able to find some great information with the films including Innocenzo and Maria's silings and their parents. Their grand parents and grandparents siblings etc. You should also be able to find the birth acts of Frank and Annunziata .

For living relatives Nuccia is right, get the addresses of the two families listed. You may want to wait to send the letters until after you've gotten your reply from the registrars office and reviewed the films which may give you additional information to include in your letters to possible living relatives. When you do write the letter, write in english then post to the translation forum to have it translated to italian. At the bottom make sure to include your return address AND your email address.........you may get a faster reply.

Hope this helps
Elizabeth

stevenspringer

I have found that requesting the certificate you want is a touch and go thing. Many places won't even provide it so please have a back up plan while you wait...it could be a long time.

Have you done all your American research yet? Best to start that way if you haven't. You may find some clues.
