This link, from a British genealogy site that I belong to has details about Malta.

>Malta National Archives<

I believe that you can also order certificates ON LINE for about
4 Maltese Lira is currently US$13.62 or £7.86

Hope it helps

An ancestor of mine Sister Onorina Gatt. She died in 2 thousand something if I remember correctly although with the help that I need for her does not require such information

She took care of children at a Christian school that is located in

Reggio Calabria Italy although she was born in Malta. I am not sure where she died at this point

My family has a poor memory of the identities of her family/our family

Can someone find out from the children's Christian schools in Reggio Calabria Italy about Sister Onorina Gatt's family?

She does have Italian ancestors as well as Maltese ancestors and in Reggio Calabria Italy she has the same Esposito family members in her family history as I do.

Sister Onorina Gatt is a very important part of Italian and Maltese Christian history

Was Gianina her real name or could it have been Giovanna? Esposito is a tricky name. It was usually given to foundlings so as Carole said, the more you can tell us the more we can steer you in the right direction. I am trying to extract vital records for several towns in Reggio Calabria ( an insane move and slow going process) and if you have an idea of when and where she may have come from, I check my microfilms.

I have located Onorina's booklet about her funeral services. I am having it translated from the multi language in to English. This is what I can understand from it without the translation

Her name:
Suor
Onorina Gatt

Suor Probably means Superior or sister

Lived:
May 1929 - 2004

Suor is a truncation of Suora=Sister.
Sorella is also often used instead of Suora

Carmela Tabone was Carmela Attard at birth she was born March 4th 1917.

Carmelo Tabone was born in February

Sorry about the misinformation ...but we will figure this all out

The Christian school in Reggio Calabria "Onorina Gatt" she started it herself

although I think that she was a teacher in the Reggio Calabria school as well

The booklet that I spoke of and that I added above is a booklet with some information about the life of "Onorina Gatt"

Thanks so much!!!

I am not 100% sure although I think that my family and that the children's school is located in the town of Calanna

Calanna if not the right place is very close to the right place + Calanna is very close in spelling to Catania which is in Sicily and my aunt keeps thinking that Reggio Calabria is in Sicily and that there is a town in Reggio Calabria named Catania

Please look up a Giannina Esposito in Calanna Reggio Calabria while you are at it i think that my mom has that name right although I am not 100% sure if Giannina Esposito ever lived in Italy or if it was just Giannina Esposito's ancestors who lived in Italy.

Could the town be Caulonia in Reggio Calabria? See if that rings a bell with your mom or aunt.

That's so funny one village so close to another village with very similar names

Do you have any idea when the church fire happened that destroyed the church records for Caulonia?

Sure I will ask at least my mom ...I will write her an e-mail and hopefully she will write me back Technically today. It's 46 minutes past midnight in our time zone

I wonder if my grandfather may had went looking for m family in Calanna when they were in Caulonia

or

If my grandfather may had went looking for m family in Caulonia when they were in Calanna.

He was born in Malta after all and he did go to Catania Sicily a lot as well. All 3 places have very similar names

Also I recall my mom saying that my grandfather went looking for his cousins many times and could not find them.

My gut is telling me that my family in Italy was really located in the opposite city in Reggio Calabria than my grandfather looked
