I was thrilled to stumble upon Gente di Mare the other day. It happened as I was helping my 10-year-old with a 5th-grade genealogy project: I googled my grandfather's name and hometown and a Gente di Mare Community Forums posting from 2008 came up.

It included his 1920 US passport application, as well as similar-vintage passport apps for a great uncle I never knew (he was killed in a traffic accident) and a great aunt I remember. All three links for passport applications were accompanied by links to photos, but the link to Grandpa's didn't work, I got the dreaded "Error 404 - Not Found" message. (Uncle Frank's and Aunt Domenica's pics were both there.

Just having Grandpa's app is great, and it'll go with Adam's report. But is there any way of recovering the photo? I'd love to see it, as it was taken 30 years before I was born! Here's the link to the page with the links. Any help would be appreciated:

Thanks!

Be careful - THIS is how I got hooked - helping my daughter with her genealogy project!

This is great, Biff; thanks very much. It's exactly what I had hoped to see. (He sure looked different 30 years before I was born, but that's him.) This is a perfect piece for my son's genealogy project. And yes, Nuccia, it's easy to get hooked - but I actually was already. Happened when I visited Brognaturo a couple of years out of college and then went back with my dad a couple of years before he died.

Thanks again!
