Since he checked birth acts from 1855-1870 for Antonio, I'm confident that he wasn't from Colli.

Actually, I did an index search of the Colli birth records 1860-1865 with no results for Antonio di Iorio or Maddalena di Marco. I also did a search of the Colli marriage records 1875-1995. Only one Antonio di Iorio, who married Annantonia di Lisi in either 1881 or 1882 (I can't remember which year).

Definitely looks like Di Iorio but is it for the correct Antonio.

BTW, I emailed John Armellino to see if he still has access to the Colli a Volturno records and asked him to check for Antonio DiIorio born about 1860-1865 since the possible ship manifest I posted previously showed Cerreto as last residence--Cerreto is a frazione in Colli and the names DiIorio and DeMarco are currently present in the town.

A long shot but you never know.

Following up, I did hear from John. He checked the Colli records but did not find any birth records for an Antonio DiIorio.

Biff

I went back to the beginning of this thread and reread it after Mr. Armellino could not find any records for your family in Colli. Cerreto rang a bell with me. Your grandmother was from Marzi in Cosenza Province, Calabria, correct? There is a frazione in San Marco Argentano in Cosenza called Cerreto. San Marco Argentano is not far from Marzi. Were your grandparents married here? or in Italy? I am not sure about DiIorio but DeMarco is definitely a surname present in the Cosenza area during your grandparents time. There is another Cerreto in the Province too. I will check a few resources and see what I can find.
