I've only recently started looking into the family tree and noticed that there are a few strings to the Luvara/Luvera line. Fortunately, the name doesn't appear to be as common as some, although I am finding it difficult to track down information.

My dad (Domenico) was born in Italy on 9 February 1945 in Taurianova, Calabria to Guiseppe Martino Luvara (17/08/1908 – 22/03/1969) and Caterina Ferraro (deceased about 1965). This was my nonno’s third wife and unfortunately I do not know the names of the first two, however I believe that the second had two sons (Francesco and Tony) before passing away.

My dad arrived in Australia in 1964 after leaving his town and going to Germany 2-3 years.

My dad has two sisters living in Italy still, Caterina (in Calabria) and Maria (up north). The brothers all moved to Australia (Salvatore, Tony, Natalino). Tony and Francesco reside in Adelaide and the other two in Melbourne.

The other details are a bit sketchy but I believe that there were twins who passed away at birth or very young as well as a sister (Concetta) who passed away when she was about 13.

Anyway, just thought that someone may be able to offer assistance.

Thanks
Adrian

Lavaro /Lavera seem to be fairly common surnames in the province of Reggio Calabria. Here's a lists of those who traveled to the US. Note: You will need a user name and password to access the list but registration is free.

Luvero:

I found this record of a Domenico, born about 1909 arriving in Australia (I used the Australia Archive site). Looks like the surname was Luvera on all the records they have listed..
