Hi. I am searching for my grandfather's relatives for genealogy records. Grandfather, Serafino Lucciola, born Nov. 12, 1892 in San Giorgio a Liri, Frosinone. Great grandfather possibility: Frances Anthony/Francesco Antionio) Lucciola. I can track some of my grandmother's relatives (Perrotta & Nardone), but not my grandfather; seem to hit a dead end on his name, which is never shown in searches. He is not listed on Ellis Island records, but according to relatives he did come that way. I think I have found some brothers (Eliseo and Elia, possibly Francesco Antonio Jr.) --- still trying to figure out which brother was turned away and wound up in South America. I "feel" like I have searched everywhere....I can locate US records on my grandparents in NJ so that is not an issue. Any help on the name Lucciola would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Sherry

Thank you! I found the boat name Regina d'Italia and searched through thousands of names looking for something similar...did not see Re d Italia boat name. That date matches what I found. I wish the writing was clearer. Do you know if there is any significance to the line order? I see 5 people from San Giorgio (Giorgioa) --- lines 24-28 ---and can't quite read the info, but line 27 shows Pietro Della Rosa going to the same address as my grandfather.
Thank you again! Sherry

Thank you !!
I find it difficult to read so many different handwriting variations.

Do you know if there are any sites that specialize in Italian surname histories. I found one for my mother's ancestors (French: du Trieux) --- it was a nice addition to the tree she provided dating back to 1623. Also found lengthy background on anscestry.com for the du Trieux family.

I haven't been so lucky with my father's ancestors.

I was told my grandfather (tailor) arrived with brothers, but did not see that on the manifest. I was also told one of his brothers stayed behind due to physical capabilities and another was turned away. (shoemaker: wound up in South America --- I think somewhere they speak Portuguese)
I know for a fact that my grandfather (Serafino) was a tailor because he had a shop in his basement in NJ. My uncle visited the Lucciola's in South America so that is true too. However, my aunt and uncle have passed so that line of information has stopped. There isn't much else I know for sure going up that tree. Some of the names I have cannot be verified to particular points on the tree. I also have lots of names (no stories) going up the tree from my grandmother (Perrotta) --- Serafino's wife.

Thanks again!

Hi,
the better way is to find the Serafino siblings searching in San Giorgio a Liri civil records by LSD microfilms:
Registri dello stato civile di San Giorgio a Liri (Frosinone), 1809-1899
https://familysearch.org/search/catalog/15420?availability=Family%20History%20Library
so you will know the names and you will find better the ship's manifest in USA, or also in Brazil, where most probably some Lucciola landed...
regards,
suanj

Thank you!
There is a Family History Center down the street where they can ship the microfilms. I will begin looking for someone to help with translation....in case I need help.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
