I've done as much research as I could in America on my great grandparents, whom are my grandmother's parents on my mother's side. So recently I have decided to come back after letting a few years pass since I did my last research of my family, hoping I will be able to find more information on their lives in Reggio Calabria and other ancestors.

My great grandfather's name was Giacianto "George" Barbaro, birth 3/23/1903 in Reggio Calabria, whom married Anna (nee Silvestri) on 4/15/1927 in Brooklyn, NY. I was able to locate Giacianto's naturalization card and the 1930 and 1940 cenus'.

Gicaianto "George" Barbaro's parents were Francesco Barbaro and Concetta (nee De Lorenzo). They had two children that I am aware of, "Rosie" and Gicaianto. According to my mother, she claims "Rosie" is still alive to this day and lives in Brooklyn. As for their lives in Reggio, that's where the story begins.

It is believed Anna Barbaro (nee Silvestri) parent's names were Antonino Silvestri and Clorinda. They had 4 children. "Eva" (Evangilista), Ernesto, Filipe and Anna (birth 6/29/1912). I am not sure if this side of the family is from Reggio Calabria or Naples. I was lead to believe that "Eva" may have been the youngest child and left in Italy with family before the entire family moved to America in the 1900's.

I am having a hard time locating these two sides of the families as I am making the switch from America to Italy. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I might be able to find baptism, birth, death, marriage records with these two surnames?

When you go to this website: www.benvanrijswijk.com...ogiche.htm you will find all the births, marriages and deaths of Reggio Calabria from 1865 till the early 20th century.
If you use this google-key to search "silvestri" site:www.benvanrijswijk.com" or "silvestri, antonino" site:www.benvanrijswijk.com" you will find an Antonino Silvestri. I could not find any Giacinto Barbaro though. I am sure his name was not Giacianto but Giacinto.
Good luck.
