Hi,

I'm looking to find out more information on Giovanni Tallarico b. Oct. 12, 1872 in Contronei, Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy. I need to find out who his father and mother were?? His wife's name is Constance Neidhart born in New York, if that helps and has three children, Victor, Ernest and Phyllis. I found one brother, Franceso Tallarico, but can't locate his ancestors. I tried LDS.org but they didn't have any information on the family. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance Smile

Hi Kathy and welcome to Gente!

I located a passport application which appears to be for Giovanni and wife Constance. It states he was born in Cotronei in Calabria.
Passport Application
Passport Photo

Will check to see what else I can find and post later.

In his 1898 ship manifest, he is traveling with another brother, named Michele (age 14)...

So, I checked for Michele/Mike Tallarico and found his Passport application, the witness for him was Constance Tallarico.

If I have this correct, this is the info contained in it:

According to the application the father's name is Alfonso Tallarico (already deceased by 1922)

Did a little more searching and found out Michele's full name: Michele/Mike Francesco Tallarico

Michele Tallarico - WWI Registration Card

Michele Tallarico - Passport Application

Michele Tallarico - Passport Application 2

Too bad these Tallaricos are not related to the Tallaricos I'm researching... *sigh*

Liz and Elizabeth,

Great finds, ladies!!

Looks like the Tallarico's were heavy into the music scene with Great Grandpa Giovanni a musician, Great Grandma a music teacher. Wonder what Grandpa and Dad did for a living?

You are correct Elizabeth! Nuccia posted something about this on IG a year or 2 ago. You can read the thread here:

From the IGG Bride and Groom Index

Surname/FirstName/Date of Marriage/Cert#/Borough

Neidhart Constance Feb 9 1910 3512 Manhattan
Tollarico Giovanni Feb 9 1910 Manhattan 3512

Year of marriage differs from the info Elizabeth posted.

If you want to go further back, here is the link for LDS microfilms for Cotronei............
www.familysearch.org/e...o+civile++

The films include, birth acts, deaths, marriages etc. starting 1809. First find a Family History Center (FHC) near you...........here is the link............
www.familysearch.org/e...et_fhc.asp

Write down all the film numbers you would like and go to your FHC to order. Each films costs about $5.50 USD to rent and it takes about 4 weeks for the films to come in.

Let us know if you have any questions or need help with the films.

Elizabeth,

I agree Cotronei, currently in the province Crotone but previously in Catanzaro.

I knew I had seen that Giovanni Tallarico somewhere else!!! Wink

With all the Tallaricos I've encountered during my searches, no wonder I forgot that I had seen Steven Tyler's family tree (well, part of his family tree...)

Now I'm definitely sorry that my husband's Tallarico ancestors do not seem to be related to Steven Tylers'... it would have been pretty cool to tell my husband that the Aerosmith lead man was a relative of his Mr. Green

Looks like there was another brother to Giovanni and Michele Francesco--Pasquale Tallarico although I've been unable to locate a manifest. Pasquale was a pianist and a composer. Giovanni a cellist.

Do a seach for "Pasquale Tallarico"
