So Nicolo, Giorgio and Nicolo's father, appears to be living in Rock Island, Ill at the time of the 1913 trip Nicolo made. I was not able to find anyone in the census in Rock Island by Gigliotta though. Would be interesting to see if Nicolo the father was in the USA, where, etc.

New info...received marriage record from St. Joseph's in Patterson, LA for Giorgio Gigliotta and Antonina Accardo, which by the way, today is their 105th wedding anniversary!!!

Wedding Date 15 Feb 1903

Giorgio Gigilotto(sic), son of Nicolo Gigliotto (sic) and Giuseppa Renardo (new name!)

ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/u...000061.txt

Maybe it should be Rinaldo? That seems to be a common name for Sambuca at least on this manifest....

I see Calegro Ugo and Leonardo Bruno are on this ship...as well as Gaetano LaBarbera

they did a good job in Sambuca di Sicilia....the Bagheria office was not near as helpful...this is a great example of what a family status request should provide....

Thats amazing John!

I have to ask...was this document provided for free or was there a charge for it? If so, how much was it? They wanted 5 euros for each member of my family they found and a 10 euro genealogy tax.

Every town in Italy maintains these records starting about 1871 and updated every year afterward. What John has posted is an extract which was handwritten for him and a summary, the original is even more detailed. Here is an example of my Great-Grandmother's family from Valle di Cadore (BL)

Part 1

Part 2

and for my great-grandmother Giuseppa Marciano's family from Carini

Marciano Registro di Famiglia

On the original, parents of Husband and wife are included, birth, marriage and death date, and who each child married and the corresponding record number for that child's own Registro di Famiglia.

I've held one of these books, they are HUGE, like 1 1/2 foot from top to bottom and across.

They are a wealth of information.

Thank you John and Jim for sharing these great documents! I can benefit greatly from one of these on my own family to help me find the lost sisters of my grandfather. But my finances are rather tight. What fees were charged to obtain these documents?

Nuccia...there was no charge...in my letter to them I offered to pay...but they did not ask for any payment....also the Bagheria office returned my $10 I had sent to them for doing research...they did not find anything becuase I gave them a wrong bith date that was off by 12 years but they didn't look very hard either as I am sure they are busy...
