Cathy,
I just looked at your two websites and that is how they should be: beautiful and full of easy to navigate information. When I saw the Catanzaro Province, I thought wait a minute, that's the married name of my foster dad's sister. The Basiles came from Casamassima, Puglia but another aunt came from Calabria; her maiden name was Trapani...she visted family in Calabria and then went to visit Trapani, Sicily. Have you wondered how so many surnames just happen to be names of towns, cities and provinces?

I'll look for the manifests you mentioned in my wanderings. Now I can use your links to look for the Catanzaros and Trapanis AND for my mom's uncle Dominick DiFabio (changed to DeFabian here). Sigh...now I have to add those to the Surname Database.

Dave

Dave,

Did you say you wanted these names added as well? Can you let me know?

Livio, thats a great idea but I'm not sure I can! I'll try and contact the designer of the forum and see if its possible since he set it up for us. Last time I tried to touch the forum files, it wasn't pretty. Thanks for the suggestion and we'll let you know if its possible. Very Happy

The Surname Database is an ongoing project, so please feel free to add the surnames you are researching (if you have not done so already, of course) in this section. I will be adding them as they are posted, ok.

...and remember to come back whenever a new surname pops up in your research, so it can be added to the list!! Wink

Thank you!

Liz Cool

Liz, I suggest that you edit the very first post and put the correct link to the database.

I had to read most of the topic before finding the correct link...

JB5150,

I just noticed this post and have been so busy that neither Liz nor I added your names to the surname database. We'll get them added in this week...sorry about that.
