Thats wonderful news! I can't wait to hear how it all works out. Please, keep us posted and fill us in on the procedure. Maybe others could use the information as well!

was a nightmare to get as far as i am... I wrote a letter a year ago to the judge (i was told that i had to because they were sealed) so i sat around and waited... few months passed i gave them a call... they told me that they were really backed up. so i said alright... and waited a little more... so 2 days ago i got fed up.. i started writing emails to congressmen, senators, etc and then i got an email back from the archvives. they told me that since the adoption took place 38 that my records are Public. so i called up the surrogate court they told me that i would need a court order to have them opened, but genealogy research isnt a good enough reason. So i told them that the law is for adoption records AFTER 1940 (In which i was told by a woman at the archives who has been trying to help me for the year) so he gave me a number and said I have to call this woman Nancy Perry. so i called her... she wasnt in... i gave my info... now i wait until tomorrow and then i call again Smile

OK, I just got off the phone with Nancy... She told me that there is a $10 search fee if i send a letter requesting it. but its free if i go to Jersey City records room and search... grrr if i went to the jersey city records room id be able to find alot of info.. but Jersey city is an hour and a half away and driving in the city is the worst

So the choice is 10 bucks and one document, vs three hours driving with the gas cost, food, parking, time off work and as many documents as you might find...

Difficult choice Steven. Like most things these days, there's a finacial consideration.
