By any chance, did you find the census for the brother giuseppe for that year? If this is him and he was in jail, then where could the wife have been? Maybe with the brother?

Me again. I did a quick ancestry index search and found this guy in a 1910 census. Giuseppe Ponnozza, it says dutchess county. Do you think its a misspelling?

I found it here:

The tree on Ancestry does not have spousal information for all of the children. Here's what's there.

Filomena
--husband Frank Morgese
--chidren, daughter Marion born 1917; Anna born 1918

Mary
--husband Nicola Frederico
--children, Vincent Fredericks born 1922; Frank Fredericks born 1924; daughter Marie no date of birth

Joseph
--wife Helen

Lillian--who is this daughter??
--husband Patrick Frederico
--children Joann and Patrick, no dates of birth

I'll see if I can locate the 1910 census for Francesco's brother Giuseppe to see if wife Anna is with him. Remember though that the 1910 census might not be for the correct Francesco Pennacchio. There might be a census out there for the family that was horribly misindexed.

I am going to save this info.

I dont know if you realized, but a lot of info between the 3 censuses (1915, 1920, 1930) dont exactly match (which I found to be very common). The 1920 census has more kids than 1930. This is logical because most of them were married. However, the 1915 census..has more kids than the 1920 cenus...and they arent children who got married between 1915 and 1920..one was young.

On the 1915 census..mary is a child after fanny...then comes michael. There is no mary on 1920. She shows as 2 years younger than Fanny. In 1915 there is a daughter Rose, who is before the last born, patrick. She isnt in 1920.

I don't think it's Francesco's brother. Year of birth is off by about 20 years as is immigration year. Also, brother Giuseppe was a baker according to the 1900 census. This Giuseppe is a railroad laborer.
1910 census in question
Name: Giuseppe Ponnozza
Age in 1910: 26
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1884
Birthplace: Italy
Relation to Head-of-house: Brother
Father's Birth Place: Italy
Mother's Birth Place: Italy
Home in 1910: Beekman, Dutchess, New York
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Gender: Male
Year of Immigration: 1903
Pomrozza Luigi 35
Giuseppe Ponnozza 26
Antonia Ponnozza 36
Dimasgola Gaetana 35
Luigi Zaggisia 33
Zarmeno Zaggisia 28

Still looking for Giuseppe's 1910 census and other possibilities for Francesco, Anna and children.

Okay, I found Franceso's brother Giuseppe with wife Rachela and children in the 1920 census in Rye township, Westchester. Also found Rachela, widowed, with one of the children in the 1930 census also in Rye. I can post the images if you like. Still trying to locate the 1910 census. Hang in there. If they were counted, I'll find them.

Just a thought, but if we've got the right manifest and 1900 census for Francesco showing his occupation as a mason, I wonder if he was of the Italians who worked on the construction of the New Croton Dam, the New York City water/sewer system, or the construction of the NYC subways?
