Hi Brad
Welcome to Gente.
I have a lot of films for Saint'Elia at my local Family History Centre but the FHC has been closed the past two weeks (the staff have been on holiday) hopefully I'll be there on Tuesday and I'll have a search to see if I can find any information for you.

Were your GGrandparetns married in Sant'Elia?
Do you know your GGrandmother's name?
Just post me any other information you have and I'll check it out for you.

Thank you very much. I beleive my grandparents were married in Sant'Elia, my grandmothers name was Philomena Salvatore. The only information I have on her is she died in Sept 1891.

Thanks again!

Hi Brad
I was at the FHC this afternoon and have found a little information for you but I ran out of time so I'll check for more next week.

Marino Antonio Angelosanto

Information re him was found on two separate Family History Centre films

Film Number 1883002 Births from 1860-1876 The Index for his birth was on this film:--Index Number- 1
but his birth record was on film number 1883003 - the very first entry
I have taken a photograph of the document and I'll try to attach it to the end of this post.
Marino Antonio Angelosanto
As you said he was born on the 4th January 1877
His father's name was Felice Angelosanto and his mother's name was Filomena Salvatore.
Unfortunately the birth record was a short version and doesnt give any more information but you may be able to get the original birth act if you write to the Priest at the Church Santa Maria la Nova in Sant'Elia. I'll look out the address for you - the priest there was very helpful to me re my grandparents marriage documents.

I also found Filomena Salvatore's death record Film number 1884665 Index number 42

She died on the 24th September 1891 age 37 yrs
Her father's name was Antonio Salvatore and her mother's name was
Michela Capraro It also says on the death record that she was the wife of Felice Angelosanto therefore he was still alive when she died.
Taking the date she died and the ? age she was when she died (can never ever be really certain about ages) I thought she would have been born around 1854 I had a look at birth records for 1850-1865 but as yet I havent found any information re her birth record.

Next time I'm there I'll have a search to see if I can find any marriage records for them

I'm going to send the documents on a separate post just in case I lose the above
Emmy

ps If you click on the images of the records it will enlarge them.

Hi Brad
Was at the FHC today and I checked the marriage films for Felice Angelosanto and Filomena Salvatore but although a few Angelosanto's came up none were for Felice and Filomena.
Are you certain that Filomena was born in Sant'Elia because it could be she was born in another village nearbye and that is where they were married.
(the wedding usually took place in the village where the bride came from)I checked the Sant'Eila film- Matriamoni 1860-1879 film no. 1883484
because Filomena was 37 when she died in 1891 which meant she would have been born approx 1854 and Marino Antonio was born in January 1877 so my guess was they would have been married either 1877 or earlier.

I've mislaid one of my notebooks with lots of information in it re addresses etc where to write to but as soon as I find it I'll send the address to write to to try to find their marriage documents.

She may have been born in Cassino, that is where her brother was born. Thanks again for checking!

Hi, I am trying to find any information on my great grandfather Ferdinand Verrecchia, who was born in Sant Elia on the 02/12/1877. He moved to Manchester England in 1901. He was in the Italian army and we are not certain but think he may have been married and she died which is why he moved to england
