What does this exactly mean? "Saggia"

I've seen this term on one of my marriage records...

Saggia = wise
Saggia sposa = wise bride... which sounds strange in a marriage record... Could you post the record in order to see the exact contest?

Hi Livio,

I'm not able to scan the document at this momemt, but basicallly it just has the term "Saggia" before the brides name

I've googled the word Saggia with other wedding keywords and the term "Saggezza della sposa" popped up which seems to deal with a bride that may refrain from sex for religious reasons? Similar to how some people only have sex to procreate...

I'm wondering if i have this right? Or if i'm misinterpreting the word?

I have never noticed it in the marriages of Montalto, Cortale or Tropea...

I found it on a record from 1858. It may have been a custom during that time period
