    ----
I recently found this tax valuation from Scigliano about my family, but I have been unable to translate some of the more obscure words.

I am hoping to be able to figure out the family relationship between all 11 people named in the document.

This is what I was able to translate of the top quarter the document; the spaces indicate a word I was unable to understand or translate:

Giacinto Lupia, manufacturer?, age 69
Giovanni, ____, miller, age 35
Rosa Astorino,____, ____, age 30
Pietro, son, age 12
Francesco, son, age 9
Domenico, son, age 6
Vincenzo, son, ____
Giovanni Battista, ____, ____, age 19
Gennaro, ____, ____, age 16
Fedele, ____, age 6
Gregorio, ____, age 4

I know that Giovanni and Rosa Astorino are married, and I assume that Pietro, Francesco, Domenico, and Vincenzo are their sons.

I also believe that the word "nip-e" stands for nipote, meaning nephew or grandson. Is there any way of figuring out which meaning is meant in this situation?

I appreciate your help in figuring out this puzzle!

Thank you so much Luca!
One question, I am having some trouble translating "nelle fasce" I think that it has something to do with baptism, but I am not sure, what would you translate it as?

Piaciuta? I giri di parole non sono il mio forte... soprattutto in inglese! Very Happy

P.S. @Livio
Secondo te l'abitudine di mettere gli infanti in fasce è stata esportata anche in America? Vedi se riesci a trovare qualcosa scritto in inglese che spiega questa usanza perché ritengo che, dal punto di vista del costume, sia abbastanza interessante.

The official translation for that I found is "swaddling-clothes" = long strips of linen or other cloth formerly wrapped round a newly born baby...
and I wander if they where they used in USA?
