Can anyone tell me a little about the La Befana Christmas tradition or point me to a web page on the subject? One of the people who uses my Celenza website asked for it. If you can share with me something on it, would you mind if I use it on my site?

Thanks!

Here are a couple from Italy...the first is - in the beginning - for the kids, but it leads, very cleverly, into the site for Urbania's Epiphany celebrations...

>La Befana<

This second one is Wikipedia, but in Italian. The English version is available in the l/h side bar!

>wikipedia Befana<

Urbania is in the Marche region >URBANIA<

And don't forget the lump of coal! How did you get the video to work Livio? Carole and I tried to change the setting to get them to play but we thought it was hopless...maybe we were wrong...

The video was originally inserted as a flash file:

Code::
[flash width=250 height=250]http://cartoline.auguri.it/pics/befana2005_02.swf[/flash]

Dec. 9, 8:55am - Video removed by Livio, because the music cannot be stopped

Sorry Livio, I changed it from a Flash File because it opened automatically and there was NO visible way of stopping the music as long as I stayed anywhere on that thread....

I did test that it was still possible to open and close it without losing it's properties - as it is now. My apologies, but it may have upset others who were trying to read all the information posted on that thread...

Thanks, everyone! I added a little bit on our page about La Befana.

celenzaheritage.google...uonnatale!

Our friend John said she was not part of the tradition in the 1920s when he lived in Celenza but as communication spread, she must have been introduced. Our friend Rossano tells us that today in Celenza and San Marco she is a common tradition.

Buona Epifania a tutti!

Hope everyone gets treats and not coal.
