I have a few posts in my guestbook that made me think about setting up a bulletin board for my site. People looking for connections to relatives, information about ancestors, etc. I need your opinions. I only have 13 or so posts in my guesbook so maybe a bulletin board is premature at this point. Also, some of my friends my bulletin boards get slammed with gross porno spam. Tell me what you all think about this. It would hav to be something very simple and free. . . .or something I could link to that is simple and free.

Message boards are great but like you said, you do get hit with a lot of spam and porn. It takes alot of work and theres always the risk of getting hacked and wrecking your whole site....Why not set something up using your feedback form? Have a message set up..or something like that?

Yeah, I think that's a good idea. I definitely do not want smut on my site via a bulletin board. I am still working on switching over the pages to the new format. I will let everyone know when I am done. I am a slow poke. LOL. Wink

How about a forum? Initially I created a free Forum when I designed my website 4 years ago. Suddenly one day a year ago it was gone. Nuccia created a new one for me using ForumUp. It's totally free and so very useful. There are settings to prevent spam. Have a look at what Nuccia (the angel that she is) created for my Carini Exchange here:

The Carini Exchange Forum

I am so proud of the way it came out. Liz also helped with the icons.

just wanted to mention that option...

Wow, that is beautiful, Jim! I was just wondering if that is a huge time commitment to monitor a forum like that? Maybe I better take baby steps with this site?????
