This is the second response I received from a Military District as follows:

Quote::
Gentile Signora RESCIGNO YEOMAN,

Distinti saluti,

la Capo Sezione Documentazione del Centro Documentale di Napoli

E. Pinto

Dear Mrs. Rescigno Yeoman,
this office keeps records for discharged soldiers starting from those born in 1896, on what concerns previous years, records are housed in the ARCHIVIO DI STATO di NAPOLI (Naples State Archive).

So, your request concerning your ggfather born in 1846, is being forwarded to that archive/office and you will receive an answer from there.

Yours faithfully,

E. Pinto
Chief Research Dept. of the Documentary Center in Naples

Wow, I am feeling more positive with all this. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long. (But that would be okay too)

Thank you so much Ada
