I read many ship's manifest abt the Spitalieris from Regalbuto; in a ship's manifest
of 1928, 2 brothers( Vito and Salvatore Spitalieri, born in 1912 and 1915 in Regalbuto) joining at mother Grazia D'Agostino Spitalieri at 267 Elizabeth st New York...

The address match with the sister address of YOUR Vito ship's manifest... obviously Grazia D'Agostino Spitalieri is no the your Vito sister...
but it is possible that peoples coming from same italian town lived very close, same street, in the american town
my opinion is that Regalbuto is right birthplace and a better search, or a request in Regalbuto can be helpful..

suanj.....I did see that information on the ships manifest....but unfortunately I do not know the sisters name or surname....I have talked to my grandfathers only surviving daughter, but she is 86 years old and unfortunately cannot remember much....I have been talking to some of my "older cousins", but no one can seem to remember much....

For a request of birth certificate you must know the data...
you have the name and birthdate ..
if the birthdate is correct....
it is a bit rare that the birthdate as in US documents is the same on italian documents... sometimes not matching the birthday or the birth month or the birthyear...

I know no if the gentleman made the search by itself in Enna archive of State ( and that is the only personal research possible) or just emailed in Regalbuto asking the birth certificate of Vito Spitalieri born on ... and son of Vito(sr)..
abt Vito sr I believe, but it is a my opinion, that the father of Vito Spitalieri had no Vito first name also...
it can be just another error on the ship's manifest... maybe the next of kin in Italy mean: father (of) Vito Spitalieri- Regalbuto..

so if you wish write in Regalbuto I believe that the better thing is to write abt SPITALIERI Vito born in Regalbuto in 1893 and to specify that by US document the birthdate is 21 May 1893 and it can be a bit different on italian birth record..

If Regalbuto will give negative reply you cannot contact by email Enna Archive of State for military record...
because in Enna archive are just the military records for men born from 1840 to 1886..

I know not where are the military records after 1886, maybe in Catania archive, because Enna (ex name: Castrogiovanni) is province from 1927 and it was create as new province with some communes of Catania province and Caltanissetta province... for that Vito referred Catania in the naturalization papers...

Best regards,
suanj

Suanj,

Would you by chance know the address that I would write to in Regalbuto, or better yet, if I can send an email request? I assume I would have to write to them in Italian, (which I can do through Google Translate) but it there something specific I should be saying in my letter?

Thank you again for your assistance.
