I was able to search for some e-mail addresses through Yahoo people search and I found some potential leads to people sharing one of my ancestral names in Italy. Are there any other sites where I can look for e-mail addresses in Italy by surname?

I would love to know this too. Very few on Pagine Blanche have email listed.

check om skype and some of the other email providers..this is what I did and you would be surprised at what I've found. I've alos just google my surname and contacted people like that. Most people have at least replied and some have sent me info on their families. Its pretty cool.

I don't have skype capabilities just yet Sad Can someone search for Insarda' for me (and pm me with anything you find)? I already did a google search and a yahoo search. I checked pagine bianche as well. I may just write letters to the folks. I have sent a handful out with no reply, but have not written to everyone yet.

There are no Insarda names on Skype. The bad thing about Skype is it lists your name as you sign up. For example Maria Insardo would show up under Maria.Insardo. By the way - I did look for Maria Insardo too - there were none. Another good place to look is Facebook. I looked for my town name and there was a group of Canadians whose parents had come from my nonno's hometown. On the downside, they were all young and not interested. Sad

Thanks Carole and Cathy for looking. I found two on yahoo, only one of which had a valid e-mail. I guess I will get out the 'ol pen and paper.

Well the gente gods must be similing on me! I found one valid e-mail address with my ancestral surname from yahoo.com and BINGO!!! I found my Italian cousins!!!! She just wrote back to me and is positive we are related. So, if any of you Italian speakers want to check out my plea for a short translation, I would truly appreciate it.

That's great! I think I'm going to try the same thing. I just heard a cousin of mine in Italy was hooking up to internet and I want to see if he's listed.

But don't forget folks - most italians will put 'surname' BEFORE 'name'.

So you could/should also try Insardo Maria...... and variations....

It would be nice if I actually started to work today, wouldn't it? LOL. I heard from my newly found cousin. I am almost certain from the naming traditions that her ggf and my ggf were brothers. We have already exchanged pictures via e-mail which is very exciting. Her father is going to their town of origin to ask around about my ggf. Another nice thing that she mentioned, which reminded me of Biff, was that she mentioned that she will be out of town for a while and will not be able to write to me for a few weeks. It was kind of her to mention that because I know how we all go a little nuts when we lose contact that we worked so hard to establish. Then we start to worry...was it something I said, do they not care any more? LOL. It sounds like the early stages of a romance sometimes with all of the self-doubt!

WOW! That is so exciting to make a connection. You must be really happy! You'll have to keep us posted. And perhaps it is time to start planning your next trip to Italy!! Do you think you might get pictures? (can you tell I am obsessed with pictures?!)

She already sent me a picture of herself, but of course, I REALLY want the pictures. LOL. I told my mom that I did not want to "come on too strong" and ask for old pics too soon. LOL. I am hoping that even if she does not have a pic of my ggf, she may have one of his brother. I would love to see that! But you are right, we are amassing a long list of towns to visit on our next trip. Last time, we went with just two in mind.
