how do i add a photo to replace my avatar. it asks for a url i just have a jpeg

You may upload the .jpg to imageshack or any suitable service provider and then write down the related URL

You have to upload your avatar (100x100 or smaller) to a photo sharing site like those I have linked below. Once you upload your image there, you will be given a url to the image. Just copy it from there and paste it in your profile here. It should work.

it tells me wrong file type when i paste the link
