Can anyone help me please.
How can I find the addresses of all the Catholic Churches in Sant'Elia Fiumerapido, Frosinone?

I've tried filling in different information in the Pagine Bianche but I keep getting all negative answers. neclord

Emmy,
Tried to post my response yesterday - was unable. We'll see if this works.
I entered a search in a regular search engine for Sant'Elia Fiumerapido, Frosinone chiese. Or try the Italian search engine: search.alice.it/search...index.html
This is an interesting site although it is in Italian: www.laciociaria.it/com...chiese.htm
All about the churches there. No addresses but interesting and at least you get some church names.
The Comune has a good site here: www.comune.santeliafiu.../index.php
Here is a search of Catholic churches in Italy: www.parrocchie.it/inde...abella=&id
Perhaps you can find addresses there. I'll continue looking tonight - I need to get ready for work.
I hope this helps.

Link brought up blank page......however, in the box "CITTA", enter just the name, Fiumerapido, click on "CERCA" and this will bring up the list!!

Many Thanks Everyone
I'm off to print off a copy of the addresses. I think I must have been trying to fill in too much information in the boxes of the Pagine Bianche.

Hi Emmy,
Santa Maria la Nova is the one with the old parish records. The priest is hard to get hold of and not good at answering letters.
Did you get what you needed?

Hi Italysearcher
Thanks Yes I did get a reply from the priest at Santa Maria la Nova.
I had a reply with a copy of my grandparents marriage documents within two weeks of writing to him. It was such a surprise to finally find what I had been searching for, for over 35 years. I also discovered they had been married amost 7 years earlier than the information of their marriage on their birth acts

That's great that he replied so quickly, I finally went there on a Sunday for mass and cornered him afterwards.
You don't say what year they were married but there was a period when couples married in the church and didn't bother with the civil marriage until they needed a birth certificate for their children and discovered that the State considered the children illegitimate because there was no civil marriage!

It turned out they were actually married in 1876 in the Church of Santa Maria delle Indulgenze which is situated at Casalucense on the southern slopes of Monte Cilfalco on a hill to the north of S.Elia, near the present day highway to Atina and Sora (about 2 km from S'Elia) (I Just keep wondering if this was where they actually lived),but the date of their marriage recorded on their Birth Acts was 1883 they came to UK.sometime between 1883 and 1887 (my father was born Jan. 1887 in London )They already had a son born in Italy 1881 but who had died a year later and they had another son born (Italy)1883- I have their birth acts . Maybe they had other children before that too and they hadnt been registered Perhaps as you say they never had a civil marriage until they discovered their children would be classed as being illegitimate (That was my first thoughts too - I too thought they had married after the children were born! Shocked ) It's been really confusing but bit by bit , thanks to everyones help the jigsaw is almost complete but I still dont know the exact year they came to UK It's sad but there is no way I can trace their journey here.
Thank you for the information
Emmy

Emmy, I am so happy you finally got those documents. I remember reading posts where you were confused about the marriage. There is a great lesson in this for all of us.

Hi Cathy
This has also proved to me that if you keep thinking positive and dont give up, no matter how long it takes and no matter how many false roads you go on, eventually someone comes up with one little clue that eventually leads you to solving the problems.

Sometimes I feel it's not only my dear friends here who are helping but I think that perhaps our ancestors want to be found and in some indirect way could be helping us find them.
Maybe that's just wishful thinking but it's a nice thought to have Smile

It's odd but once you find out more about your ancestors, especially if you find old photographs, they are no longer just birth acts and dates etc but they become REAL people and feel very close to you.

I have to agree with you...I have often felt them looking over my shoulder. I think they want to be found too. I have had many really strange things happen that I cannot explain any other way. I don't think anyone wants to be forgotten. I wish I had pictures but until then, I have the stories, history and documents to fill in the blanks. They are still very real to me even without the photos. I'm beginning to think the photos are a dream - never to be found. But I will never give up my search. Perhaps, one day, my perseverance will pay off.

Dont give up Cathy I'm sure photographs will eventually turn up. After approx 35 years tracing my ancestors it was only when I finally went FORWARDS in my research to try to find 'living' relations that a letter arrived for me just before Christmas 2007, when I was in hospital, with the photographs of my dad's cousin. It was unbelievable! Best Christmas present ever!

(If I'm correct I think you are already doing that - so keep at it!!)
