I'm ready to sent letter to Sicily for birth, Marriage and death certificates. But I'm not able to find to correct address to sent the letter.

I put together some letter with the help of www.circolocalabrese.o.../index.asp

Is this the correct site to write the letter to requesting a detailed birth, marriage and death. with all the names of each side of the family.

The town is Terrasini, Palermo,Sicily the only ones I was able to find was

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Comune di Terrasini
90049 TERRASINI PA
ITALY

&

Ufficio di Stato Civile
Via Papa Giovanni XXIII, 59
CAP 90049
Terrasini (PA)
Italy

Does anyone know the correct address?

Vincenza,

Here's the address I found; I believe that it's formatted correctly:

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Comune di Terrasini
Via Papa Giovanni XXIII, 59
90049 TERRASINI PA
ITALY

Vincenza,
I have used the Il Circolo Calabrese interactive letter although I've added and/or changed a few things in my pigeon Italian. Then I've posted the letter here or elsewhere and asked for some help.

In requesting birth and marriage acts, the ones you want for genealogical purposes are the integral copies. These are usually photocopies of the handwritten records from the Anagrafe office journals and contain much more information than a birth extract.

I've had excellent results writing to a number of comunes in Italy but kept my requests to no more than three records at a time. In all cases I knew at the least the birth years and names of all the individuals, and have asked only for birth and marriage records. The only exception was the request I sent to my cousin who is the Anagrafe officer in my paternal grandfather's comune. He did a complete search of the records for my grandfather's immediate family and send me a number of family certificates and other details. It took him four months of searching during down time at his office. If he weren't a relative, I'm not sure he would have taken the time to research the information.

Make sure to let us all know what you want to request and we'll all help you in composing your letter.

Baci ed abbracci,
Biff

Thanks, again.

Are there site that will help you put together this type of request? Or even examples that all someone need to do is fill in the blanks.

What do you think?

Vincenza,

Here's the Italian translation for the integral records.

COPIA INTEGRALE DELL'ATTO DI NASCITA (integral copy of birth record), COPIA INTEGRALE DELL'ATTO DI MATRIMONIO (integral copy of marriage record), COPIA INTEGRALE DELL'ATTO DI MORTE (integral copy of death record).

I'm not sure if I saved copies of the letters I sent a number of months ago requesting these. I'll check when I get home this evening and let you know later one way or the other.

Vincenza,

With Riccardo's generous help, this is a copy of one of the letters I sent.

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Comune di San Mango d’Aquino
88040 San Mango d’Aquino CZ
ITALY

Gentile Ufficiale dello Stato Civile
Mi chiamo John Bifano, ed abito negli Stati Uniti all’indirizzo di cui sotto. Cerco informazioni in merito a mio nonno Giuseppe Epifano, mio bisnonno Francesco Epifano e mia bisnonna Carmela Esposito.

Distinti saluti

John Bifano

Let's see if we can help you compose a letter by substituting your information in place of mine.

Thanks,

Am I able to request for more than one certificate at once. Like both of my grandparent and great grandparent. birth, marriage and death all in the same letter. Or is that to much to ask at once.

Trying to put together the letter.

Not to answer your question with a question but....
Do you know the birthdates, surnames and maiden names of your grandparents and great grandparents? The reason I'm asking is the more information you can provide the greater the likelihood that the office will try and/or be able to locate records for you. If you have only your grandparents' information, you'll be able to determine your great grandpatents' approximate years of birth from your grandparents' birth and/or marriage records. Then you can write another request asking for their information.

If both your grandparents were born and married in Terrasini and you know their birthdates, locating the documents you want should be pretty staightforward. Just my two cents but I'd send a request for their records first. After you receive your grandparents' records, you'll be able to determine the approximate years of birth for their parents. Then I'd send a thank you letter to the Anagrafe officer in which you also request an additional search for your great grandparents' records.

After I received the documents for my Mom's parents and my Dad's mother and her parents, I sent a thank you letter to each Anagrafe official with a copy of the book Italians in Northeastern Pennsylvania. For my cousin who is the Anagrafe official in my Dad's father's town, I also sent a CD of guitar music since he plays the guitar. It only cost a few bucks for the thank you gifts and postage to let them know I really appreciated their efforts.

Okay , great I will send for the information that I'm requesting on my grandparents first.

What do they charge for these copies?

Thanks for all your great help.

I will post when I received the information.

Thus far, although I've requested to send payment, no one has requested any.

If you'd like, you could compose your letter and post it on the Translation forum for comments/improvements before sending it. Just a thought and I know everyone who can will help.
