Received this letter today from the Military Documentation Center of Naples.

Can someone tell me what it says for sure?

I am needing a letter in Italian explaining that the whole family moved to Castellammare di Stabia 1855-1860 from their home in Roccapiemonte and the place of birth of my grandfather and his siblings. My grandfather registered for the draft in 1866 in Castellammare di Stabia and served in the military after that date. Two of his brothers who would have been eligible for the draft received an exception at the time of rgistering for the draft 1.) because Antonio was currently serving and 2.)In the case of Giuseppe, because he was the only male left.

My grandfather moved to Lercara Friddi in Sicily where he married in 1871 and Alfonso (the other brother) moved to the U.S. So, there were in fact no other males surviving in the country. Their father passed away in 1877 and their mother was in Giuseppe's care.

Help if you can please. I couldn't possibly relay this information in Italian. (I do have copies of the Liste di Leva for each)

They are routing your request to the Centro Documentale of Salerno that should be competent because of the birth place...
