Just sort of cruising around the site. I like it. I'm researching Francesco Romano (Luigi) De Maso. B Nebbiu, Pieve di Cadore, 1866, married Guiseppina Del Favero from Valle di Cadore on or about 1896. Emigrated to US 1896. Descendants I have plenty of. Ancesters...none. Any help will be appreciated.

Nice to have you Here Joe. Here I'm known as Carole.

You could list the names you're researching as part of your 'signature', that's what most people here do. It keeps your names in the public view on all your posts.

You'll find access to your signature where you found your avatar settings... Also, if you want names dded to the surname data base there is a form on there to put in your request to Nuccia.

We have several members living in the Ghicago area like you and I'm sure you will get to know them over time.

If you want to start with one specific family, just post all the details you have on perhaps the 'Where do I begin' forum giornale and people will try and help - OK? So just 'post away'!

Welcome to Gente Joe! It's nice to have another Chicagoan here! Very Happy Our member James Bianco also has roots in both Valle di Cadore and Pieve di Cadore. Unfortunately he has been unavailable recently. You may find this Old post interesting.
Ok so now I must ask...Cubs or Sox? hide

That's a neat t-shirt Cathy. I do cheer for the Cubs whenever they play in the world series. Maybe next year. Very Happy

Actually Joe I am just kidding...I have been to both White Sox and Cubs games. But don't tell my family - they would disown me! I will check my family history center in Palos today to see if they have any microfilms of interest for you.

Palos is quite close to us. We live in Chicago Ridge. Favorite restaurant is Capri. Where is the genealogy center, or is just specific to your research?

Well, wishing you luck in your family research.

Joe, it is one of the Later Day Saints (Mormon) Family History Centers. You can order microfilms from there HUGE collection of world wide records and view them there. My center does not have records from your town but, they do have many microfilms on permanent loan. Of course I have about 30 films right now and have 5 more ordered. I can show you around if you would like...just let me know.
My favorite resturant is Greco's in Willow Springs (next to the Willowbrook Ballroom). Great Italian food! Very Happy Of course I always get a little creeped out on that road hoping NOT to see Resurrection Mary! hide

I went to High School with Artie Greco. He doesn't know me, but I remember him. 6 degrees of separation or something like that comes to mind. If I come up with something that I think LDS can help with I'll give you a yell.

Cathy,

An old post that I am finally getting around to following up on. I recently visited the Orland Park FHC at 13150 88th Avenue. Is this the one you use? A lady said someone named Cathy spent a lot of time there, even showed me a drawer full of tapes being held for her. My next question is: I ordered a film, and I'm waiting for a call from the FHC. When the film arrives may I PM you and get the details of what to do next? I saw the single viewer and copier machine and I know I'll have to go when things are slow. Joe

Thats me Joe! Very Happy I need a new drawer now since mine is full and I just ordered more films. Just pm me or email me when your films come in and I will meet you there and show you how to work the equipment. That center has been quite busy lately and I have had a terrible time getting scanner time. I work full time during the day so you will have to meet me there at night or on Saturday.
