I have been researching documents on the following website, but I have not been able to save images (or even print them successfully). They seem impossible to edit if they are copied (no Graphics file available), in order to crop into a simple copy of the original doc.

Has anyone else worked with these and had some success.....maybe they are locking them down in order to sell prints???

The short answer is "yes"; however, it is a bit complicated. I use a Mac and Safari mostly as my browser. Using the "Develop" menu in my browser I view the page source, then look for a folder labeled "images". In that folder the image labeled "main.php" is the image being viewed--the image is generated via php scripts--and can be downloaded and then further manipulated in an image program ( I use Preview, a native Mac program). As I said it is complicated, but it can be done. I believe one can use FireFox as well, experimentation is necessary. Unfortunately these sites do not seem interested in allowing these sources to be easily downloaded.

I have Safari installed on my PC, I will give it a shot......if I can get it into some type of Graphics File, I know I can crop and edit the doc.....I know that some sites (like Ellis Island) are trying to generate revenue by selling the printouts...it didn't seem as these folks were looking to do that either.

Regular copy and paste with Firefox and Word.
