This morning I became, like many of you, amazed at some news I got via my 'Genes United' membership. A membership that I took up originally to help find 'you know who' (naughty Nina)....
As time went on I continued to get a lot of requests for information about my fathers side of my family.... 17 brothers and sisters of whom 13 survived, These enquiries came from distant cousins who were trying to piece together their own family trees. While I certainly didn't ever know, or even meet many of the siblings or their families - I did think I knew OF them all. Until today that is, when this arrived after this lady's husband told me he though my father was his wifes uncle!!! I confirmed he (Clifford) was my father and then recieved this from his wife....
Hello Carole
My mother was Florence Emily. She didn't marry until later in life so she was a single mum and had most of her children adopted. Although, I believe we all had the same father. I did meet my eldest sister Joyce 2 years ago but, sadly, she passed away last year. I also met my brother Dereck earlier this year. My mother registered him as Richard but our uncle Frederick, who adopted him, changed his name to Dereck Cordell Whxxxx.
I was evacuated to Derbyshire when I was 6 weeks old and adopted by Mr & Mrs Stxxxxx.
Best wishes Vivienne
ps I have been unable to find a photo of my mum so if you have one could you please e-mail it to me.
