Do you have an approximate year of birth for him? A spouse's name? Children names? Did he go to North America? Is so, do you know where he may have lived? We'll try to help you as much as we can.

Thank You soo much for your response. I cant say that I was looking for someone particular but more of what I could find on my Family name in general. I know that Diomede Marvasi was born in 1827, on august 13th in Cittinova. I know he didnt come to america, and he died oct 17 1875 in Castellammare di Stabia. Vincenzo Marvasi was born in 1912, sept 11th in Palmi. He was Killed july 10th 1942 and buried in El Alamein War Cemetery Block VIII No. 15 Tomb.

I am still trying to gather other information on more direct family members, but this is what I have for now, thank you again!!

Any other questions just let me know.

Have you considered checking out the variation in spelling? The surname may have changed to or was originally Marvaso. This is another record I found with the alternate spelling.

Using the www.stevemorse.org search engine (Gold form) and type in Marvos and you'll get several hits - many are from Cittanova.

Livio this is awesome. How did you figure this out? I saw many Marvasi from Sicily and wondered but failed to follow through. I am impressed. And I learned something from you.

You guys are both amazing!! Best I can tell there was a province in Calabria called Taurianova, more specifically Tappeto Marvaso. Here there are relatives of mine with many variations to my name, including Malvasi, Marvasi, Marvaso and a few others. I am curious why there where so many variations and if they where all somehow related. Here is a link I found with some information about that village and a Map where it was.

digilander.libero.it/m...toria.html

You guys seem to know a lot more about obtaining information.

Also you mentioned there where many in Sicily, since the information I dug up goes back to about 1500 AD or so, is it possible that all these Marvasi's Originated from that Village?

He even says what library it is at and what other information about the origin of our family may be located there. Problem is my Italian isnt exactly that good!! I sent him an email and never got a response. Its possible he doesnt speak or understand English

In the last few months I did some indexing of death records in Castellammare di Stabia for FamilySearch. Meechm Said that Diomede died there and it was easy to search...
