Hi Everyone!

This is the marriage record of my 5x great-grandfather that I found today while searching marriage records at my family history center. Unfortunately, the quality is not that great and I am having a hard time making out most of what it says. I would really like a little help figuring out the names of the parents of the bride and groom. As far as I can see, the groom's father's name ends in a double i, so that narrows it down a bit, but of the Latin names that I know I can't figure out what this one could be. Also, am I correct that the year for this record is 1756? Any idea on the day and month?

Any help would be much appreciated!! Very Happy

The year appears to be 1751 to me.

Tom-- I think you are correct. I see a reference to 1751 later in the document now too. I don't want to influence anyone's opinion, but do you think the name of the father could be Rosarii (Rosario)? I think this might be a good guess because Carmelo had a son named Rosario.

Very hard to read!!! I think that:
Carmelo Baroni (or Barone) was son of the late Francesco(???) and the living Dorotea(?????) Tedio (Zedio???)
Battistina Barrera was daughter of the living Giorgio and the late Pasqua Manara(???)... but I can't be sure at all.
The date of the marriage was 1751 October 5th, the three banns were on september 26th and 29th and october 3rd in the church of Santa Maria Catena. Witnesses Carmelo Lo Blasco and Geremia Trombetta(???)

Grazie, Luca! You are the 2nd person to say Francesco for the father's name, so that may be it. You have super eyes! I couldn't make out much of this at all, I can definitely see the names more clearly now. My trip to Italy is next month and I have made contact with the priest at the church in Modica, so hopefully I can view this record there and confirm.

Well, so if you can take a better picture of the act I think I'll not have problems to give you a complete transcription and translation of the act Wink
