I live in Australia and I am researching my Grandmothers (Maria Antoniol) family in Zorzoi and Lamon. She had 3 brothers and 1 sister. I believe her sister was name Rosina and was a nun. One of her brothers was called Antionio Antoniol and he lived to about 94 and died about 6-7 years ago, he lived in Lamon. Their father was Floriano Antoniol who was married to Teresa ? Maria married Fortunato Dalla Santa and they went to Australia and lived in Mildura Victoria, where my mother Dulcie Flora and my Auntie Elsie were born. Maria died in 1928 and was 24 years old, so was born around 1904 in Zorzoi. I am new to this and have no idea what to do from this point. Can anyone help me.

Hi, I have a few corrections to the above message. My grandmother, Maria Antoniol was born in Sovramonte not Zorzoi and arrived in Australia in 1922 on the Orvieto. My Grandfather arrived in Australia in 1921 on the Pollenzo and did war service in Italy from May 1918 to 1921. I hope someone out there can help me find my family or let me know what I should do from this point

Ok, I am not very familiar with these areas but questions I have so I can find the answers for you is:

1. Where did you get this information and 2. Do you have any records to prove it?

Thats probably the single most important thing - proving your info with sources. Next, have you taken the time to chart this all out and see exactly what you have? You start with yourself and work backwards filling in whatever you know. Then you need to start looking for sources..Have you the military papers for your grandfather? It will confirm his birth date, birth place and provide his parents names. You can get this information from the State Archives in Italy by just sending a request.

www.archivi.benicultur.../home.html

Ancestry has some Belluno records available as well/ Do you have a subscription?

I am a member of Ancestory and a lot of the information I gained from searching from their site ie. Passenger arrivals, dates of death. I have been given a Dalla Santa family tree that excluded my grandfathers first marraige to Maria Antoniol and the birth of my Mother and my auntie. I have also sourced my grandfathers naturaliastion application and papers from the Australian National Archives. These list his birth date, where he was born, when and how he arrived in Australia, his wifes name, where she was born and her age. It also states that he was honourable discharged from the Italian Army and that he served from 1918 to 1921. I do beleive he arrived in Australia prior to 1921 with his brother Antonio Albino Dalla Santa and was sent back to Italy in 1918 because he was conscripted into the Italian army in - I am still looking for confirmation of this. I know the names of my grandfathers ancestors going back to 1500 from the Dalla Santa family tree. I am trying to complete my grandmothers (Antoniol) side. My great grandmother (on my grandfathers side) was Marta Francesca Antoniol born on 15 July 1974 and my grandmothers father was Floriano Antoniol. I think they may have been brother and sister - but I can't be sure

Thank you for the link to the Italian Archive. I will try and obtain his military records.

Thank you for your assistance - have a great day.
