LMAO Cathy..they dont know what they are in for when they get a bunch of Italians giving them mal occhio.
Well..I checked out this AMD athlon. I am now looking at an HP with dual core intel. I think I would be more comfortable with that..only this model is more expensive.
I think I am going to look, tomorrow.
Biff..since you are fighting anyway..I would fight for them to take the entire system back and return your money.

You ready for my nightmare?
We bought our hp computer, LG wide screen monitor and bose speakers at about 5pm yesterday at best buy. After a quick dinner we went to put it together. The monitor wouldnt work. It would light up..then go into some kind of sleep mode. We call best buy, they said to bring it back. Hubby rushes down..before they closed. They tested the monitor it did the same thing there..so they gave us a new one. He comes home..it doesnt work.
I decided I didnt want an LG if two dont work..so I told hubby to get a samsung.
At bestbuy, they tested the second monitor..they claimed it worked...but, we got the samsung.
He comes home..hooks it up..it doesnt work. He calls bestbuy..explains the whole story to a geek squad person..he thinks its a bad video card..said to bring the computer and monitor in..they will check. I told hubby to pack everything that came with the computer..because..if it is a faulty graphics card..I dont want THAT computer..I want a new one. So we packed it all up.
Poor hubby doesnt feel well..and he just left to bring it all there. He said if they refuse to give us a new one..he is just leaving it there and calling the cc company to have them take it off.
Heh..I never had these problems with IBM computers.
My sicilian blood must make me have a lot less patience than most. I wouldnt even go with hubby.
O..and if all of that is not bad enough..I offered my old computer to my son for his 4 year old twins. I figured..the hum wont bother them..lol Because my son is a clean freak..and my computer had real dirty spots..in the back of the monitor, where i could never get to, to clean..and i smoke..I decided to give it a good cleaning. Sigh..I cleaned it so well..the monitor wont turn on now..it sounds like its coming on..then clicks off. I didnt spray it..I used a damp paper towel with windex. I hope its just a little moisture and it will work when it dries out..or no computer for them..lol

What happened next is.....he took them both back......and.....there was nothing wrong with either of them..there are hidden buttons under the monitor..that we didnt see...with a menu.
The computer is beautiful..the sound system outstanding...and vista isnt that bad either..I can live with it. Oh..and my other monitor works..I didnt clean it to death..I plugged and replugged it..and it came on...so my son gets it afterall. It is 3:42 am and I am so hyped up..I didnt even attempt to go to bed.

Oh..just one thing..does anyone here use firefox? I used to be able to go into windows/applications, on win 98 and copy the bookmarks..then if I switched computers..you just took that file..went into applications and overwrote what was there. I did that with netscape, too..I saved them occasionally..so I would have the latested version.
Well..vista (and I think xp too) has no applications folder in windows. If I add this copied bookmarks to the firefox default, in program files..it copies it..but it doesnt show in the program.
I managed to somehow get it to internet explorer..and thought an import would work..well it imported it..but they are all in a list. I am now visiting the sites I use most..so I can resave them. The list..is huge..I cant use that, the way it is.
Sigh..the question is.....does anyone know the spot firefox is reading to get the bookmarks..since it isnt in its own programfiles?

Eleven, I use Firefox but I may have to re read your post since I'm not sure what you mean exactly.
I can tell you this though...once you start using it, I don't think you will ever go back to Internet Explorer. As for Nescape..not worth using anymore. There are too many problems with glitches and such and isn't compatible with recent and future codes on most websites from what I hear.
Anyway, pulled an all nighter at work so I just got in and will attempt to re read your post again. Maybe I can help.

No..these monitors come with an installation guide..which is mostly pictures..and very little else. Its one sheet of paper..with several languages ..it went from the monitor hookup..to what you do once you are up and running. Problem was..we never got up and running.
Ok..nuccia..let me try to explain. First, I never use IE as my default browser. I had netscape before IE was invented..lol..and kept using that until firefox showed up..then I switched to that..which has the same look and feel. I only use IE in emergencies on sites that dont do will with firefox.
OK..now, I did this with both netscape and firefox. The program (firefox or netscape) sits in program files. If you go in there..I think under profile..you can find the bookmarks..in the default folder. However..the program (firefox or netscape) doesnt read from that bookmark.html. Instead, in win 95 and 98..in the windows folded, was a folder called applications. Firefox (or netscape) had a folder in there, too. That is where it read the bookmarks from. The bookmark.html..was in there too..and is the one the program used..and saved all your bookmarks to. It doesnt use the one in the programs files default folder..it uses the one in applications.
I always copied and saved that html file (every few months or if I had to reinstall the program). This way..if I had to reinstall firefox (or netscape) I always had the current bookmarks. I would then go into windows/applications/mozilla/etc etc..and find the bookmark html there..and overwrite it with the one I saved. This gave firefox..all of my saved bookmarks in the new copy.
I saved the bookmarks from my old computer, and put it on a cd. When I installed firefox on this new computer..and went to look for the applications folder in windows..it isnt there. I then thought..maybe it is now using the bookmarks.html in the program files/mozilla/default/etc place. I replaced that bookmarks..with the one I saved..but, it didnt bring it into the firefox.
There has to be another place in windows..that this bookmarks.html lives..and thats the one that needs to be changed..only, I cant find it. A search brings me only my saved file from my cd that I copied into the computer..and the default from program files. I KNOW another one exists..because the change didnt take from the defaults one...so there definitely is another place that firefox is reading bookmarks from.
I am surprised nobody ever did this before. I did this before they added these import/export options to the browsers.

I found one in a search, too. I didnt try it..I was too busy playing music and hopping and bopping in the chair. I gotta get that out of my system before hubby gets home and starts yelling for me to lower that thing. Men get so old..ya know..lol.
Tonight I am going to paint punkins with my 13 grandkids..we do that for my bday every year. Bday is tomorrow..but my daughter is having a halloween party..so we have to do the bday punkins tonight. I guess i will try to do it..tomorrow. Oh..and the site I found tells you where that bookmarks place is. The reason i couldnt find it was because it isnt named bookmarks.

Finally received my third printer/scanner on Thursday. We called Dell last night and had a tech person walk us through the install. With his assistance via a remote access to our computer, at last we have a functioning printer. Hopefully, I won't have any need to call Dell for any other issues in the future.
Biff
