Hi, my name is Silvia. I'm Italian but I've been in the US on exchange. I'm trying to promote my website: www.stradizionario.it. Here we are trying to collect dialect words, proverbs, famous phrases, slang words and whatever you would'n find on a normal dictionary. It hasn't been a long time since we started, so it's still a bit plain, but we are working on it and it's getting bigger and better.
I hope that someone will find it useful and if you have any suggestions we will appreciate
Silvia

Hi Silvia
I checked your site out. One thing I think is major..............have a selection so the website can be viewed in English so people can navigate around. Don't know if this suggestion will be helpful.

When we first had the idea for thi site, we though that it was going to be helpful to people who speak Italian fluently, but I'll talk about this with the people who are collaborating with me and we'll try to improve it
Thank you for your suggestion!
Silvia

Most of the people who would benefit from your site are people of italian descent that DO NOT speak fluent italian. That's why you see people here at Gente and on the IG site (the other forum you posted to) helping each other in their searches for their ancestors.

Thank you for your helpful suggestion Elizabeth! I talked to the people who are collaborating with me and we decided to have a selection. Most of the material that we are collecting comes from users' submitions and we can't ask everybody to give a definition in English (as you probably know, there aren't many Italians who can speak English fluently), but we'll give them the chance to do it if they want. We were already planning a forum and we decided to have also one in English.
I dont' know how long it is going to take to do all this, because we do it as a hobby, but we'll work on it
Thank you again!

Thank you Nuccia and Elizabeth for your kind help! For the moment we'd simply need new submissions from users to enlarge our database, my buddy is working on the technical part . As we go on and see what is there to do, we'll let you know. Perhaps it would be useful to know if there's anyone who can speak fluently Italian and English for translations, but then I guess the best thing to do would be start a new topic and ask for help.
