Hi to all, I am new here and am researching my husband's italian ancestors. The earliest I have so far is Giovanni Costa and Giovanna Tromboli from Agropoli. Italy. Would like to find out more if possible on Rizzo, Benincasa and Liotti Thanks to all--christine sydney oz Rolling Eyes

Hi Christine and welcome to Gente! Have you tried ordering films from the LDS to search for family? They have films available for Agropoli that include civil records from 1866 through 1929. There is also a site that someone set up for Agropoli www.imaginesmaiorum.net/ when the site opens, in the upper right, you can type in the surname you're searching...another page will come up and you just click on the name that is highlighted and transcribed information will appear. You may or may not find family information there.

We look forward to your response and please let us know what information you already have (manifests, census etc.) for each person and the complete name(s) and information of the other family members you're trying to find. The more information you can give the easier it will be for everyone to help you.

Smile

Hi Elizabeth, no I have not ordered any films, not sure how to do that one. I have just recently been told about the website you mentioned. It has a goldmine of info and has helped me alot. Now I would like to know more.
I will start with my mother-in-law as I have very little on her family.
LIOTTI, Francesco d.c. 1965ish and ROMANZO (Romansi) Maria d.c.1970's. I have information on them from the agropoli website but only the births of their children. I would like to know when and where they were born. They both died in Agropoli but not sure when. Would like to get hold of death certs. to find out more information on them. thanks for your welcome and reply. regards christine sydney oz
Very Happy

Hi Christine. We have a tutorial on site, under the resource pages forum, on ordering films www.gentedimaregenealo...pic&t=2263 You will also need to locate a Family History Center (FHC) in your area to order the films from and to view your films when they come in...here is the link www.lds.org/ldsorg/v/i...5e340aRCRD
If you need help after trying this out just let us know. If you think that Francesco Liotti and Maria Romanzo (Romanasi) were born before 1929 you might want to order a birth (nati) film. For Agropoli the LDS has a film covering births from 1866 to 1919 so there's a good chance you will find both of their birth records if they were born there. To order death records you need to make your request in Italian. You can use this site www.circolocalabrese.o...civile.asp to generate your letter. I think after you generate the letter you should post it on the translation board here and ask to have it looked over because you want a full extract that would include the parents names, place of birth etc. otherwise you will just get a standard copy without a lot of information.

Post if you need help with this and let us know how things progress.

And I apologize for not responding sooner. Somehow I missed your last post.

Hello Elizabeth, thank you so much for all your advice. I will certainly take it and let you know. I am not Italian and do not speak it so I will have to get help on that one. Please don't worry about not answering straight away. Thanks again and will be in touch ..christine Rolling Eyes

The link I gave you to generate the request for a death certificate will show it to you in English and it has drop down boxes to select the right request...you just fill in the blanks in English. At the end it will translate into Italian for you. The reason I said to post it on the translation board after it's generated is to have one of the translators fine tune it to say you want complete information including wifes name, parents names etc. on the copy you receive. It's ok that you don't speak Italian. We're very lucky to have Livio, Ada, Carole and Luca who live in Italy and provide help to those of us that need documents translated or letters to be sent translated and worded properly.

Hope this clears things up a bit.
