Hi!
First of all, I'm from Argentine and currently i'm trying to find information about my italian ancestors. And maybe, I can get the italian citizenship someday.
I have the following document, "Certificate of Birth" of my father (an argentinian document of 1903) and there it says that my grandfather was an italian called Felipe De Francesco of 46 years old, single, and the name of him parents also appears.
Sadly, this is the only document about my grandfather that I have.
Days ago, I was able to find this migratory information:

Cognome: DE FRANCESCO | Nome: FILIPPO | Età: 26 | Sesso: M | Stato civile: Celibe/Nubile | Professione: JORNALERO | Religione: Cattolico | Porto: NAPOLES | Nave: SCRIVA | Data di arrivo: 19-05-1885 | Istruzione: Non sa | Classe:

In this webpage apps.imginternet.com/a...spx?ln=arg

This register, almost match with my document (remeber the name traslation, that they suffered).
But the problem is that I don't know where exactly he born. In my family is a "fact" that he born in/near Chieti (or maybe Pescara), but nobody knows.

So that is my situation, I want to know if "that Filippo" is my grandfather, and the most important, where he born, so I can try to find his birth certificate.
My grandpa is italian, so close! but it seems so far without any document...

Any help to start my investigation will be so usefull, thanks in advance,
Juan De Francesco

Hi Juan,

I looked at pagine bianchi for the Regione of Abruzze (where the city and also the province of Chieti are located). There were only nine listings.....here is the link:

www.paginebianche.it/r...dv=Abruzzo

This might help a little...is there any elder relatives still alive who can provide any additional info? You might consider writing a letter to this list of names (in Italian) explaining a little bit of your family history and that you are trying to locate your lost relatives in Italy...who knows, maybe one will be your relative.

Charlie

You might also want to try writing to the State Archives in that area and see if they can offer you any help. Maybe write them a simple request?
